Welcome to Nordic Trade Law Forum

Nordic Trade Law Forum is a cross-border Scandinavian non-profit forum for sharing of knowledge and experience within the field of trade law between lawyers and industry players. The forum was created on 22 September 2021 in Oslo.

Trade law is a comprehensive field that encompasses many different areas of law, such as contract law, competition law, GDPR, IPR, consumer law, marketing law, and issues regarding international choice of law and jurisdiction. A large proportion of the laws governing the retail trade industry are based on EU directives, which results in many of the laws being nearly the same in the different Scandinavian countries.
Many of the legal issues within commercial law are of a distinctly practical nature and are often not directly referred to in any known legal sources. However, the same issues tend to be recurring, across the Scandinavian borders. A fundamental idea behind the forum is that there is great value in exchanging expertise and knowledge about these recurring issues, instead of working on solutions to the same problems separately.
Another fundamental idea is that the forum could contribute to creating a quality network between lawyers and industry players, which can also evolve outside of the forum meetings.
The place for the forum meetings will alternate between the Scandinavian countries.
